Looking In The Mirror
During a recent coaching session with ADD Adult Coach Pete Quily http://www.addcoach4u.com/ , I was challenged to answer a question for our next coaching session…… what have I done right to get to where I am today? With challenge in hand, off I went to my computer to hear the familiar taping of the keyboard. The fun thing about this coaching exercise, it allowed me to put my thoughts to paper, well actually to electronic Word document, but I’m sure you get the idea. Then, I’m able to post to this blog and hope that my words can assist or impact someone out there with ADD.
What have I done…………wow! I don’t think a blog offers enough space, but a brief summary sure will. I feel the number one thing I did was adjust my attitude. My attitude towards me, my beliefs, communication and many other aspects of my life. Once the right attitude was in place, it’s amazing what can happen. Suddenly, the right attitude opens up your mind to doing so much differently.
I’ve become more aware of how I communicated, what I say, how I say it and how it is perceived. My life is organized and structured and I’ve learned more about setting goals and how to achieve them. However, getting to this point involved dedication to learning, changing habits, ADD coaching, deep self reflection and sometimes…..looking into the mirror and not liking what I saw. Becoming aware of who you truly are is a hard experience for anyone. We all have aspects of our selves that we don’t like, so don’t feel like you are alone when you reflect on who you are. Nobody is perfect and everyone can become better. Simply have the courage to understand who you are and make yourself better.
Through all of this I have done and accomplished a lot, however I guess I should offer a summary and bring closure to this blog post regarding the question, what have I done? I have opened myself up to a new attitude and way of thinking while better understanding who I am and improving to become a better man, father and friend.
