The Wheels of Life
The wheels of life are turning so much faster, the restless hands of time pass me by. Yes, these are the lyrics to the fabulously cheesy 70’s hit “The Wheels of Life” by Gino Vanelli.
The wheels of life could entail many things and have different meaning to people, dependant upon what the wheels of life are in their world. To me, the wheel of life is a great tool that benefits people with and without ADD. The Wheel of Life is about balancing the different and key things that are a part of your life. In one of my previous blogs called Time For An Oil Change, I wrote about this. So, it is that time once again for my quarterly tune up. Every quarter (every 3 months) I have decided to do a self evaluation of my life and goals.
This evaluation is based on “The Wheel of Life” and the 8 categories of analysis are, in no particular order;
1) Career
2) Money
3) Health
4) Friends & Family
5) Signifucant Other
6) Personal Growth
7) Fun & Recreation and
8) Physical Environment.
It is about analyzing each of these categories in your life to determine if your life is balanced. Draw a circle and divide it into 8 equal pieces of pie. Each piece of pie in the circle represents one of the above 8 categories. Color in each category, the further you color towards the edge of the circle, the more pleased you are with this life category. Once you have colored each of the 8 life categories, you will have a new edge of the circle. This edge could be smooth all the way around, but will likely have some rough edges because you are human after all. If any of the categories are not balanced, the wheel won’t roll too smoothly, so to speak. It’s up to you to smoothen out that wheel rotation and work on the parts of your life that need improvement.
We all need to improve continually. Understanding who you are, what your strengths consist of and what challenges you is an important part of this process.
